Will Caradoc-Hodgkins, RIBA, Director

Will was educated internationally and received his Diploma from Kingston University, London.

His approach to design is intuitive rather than stylistic. However, his design responses are process driven. His preference is to create solutions through close dialogues with the client, the site and the wider environment.

Will has an extensive portfolio of work, having led many successful projects across a wide range of building types, from conversions and refurbishments of period buildings such as Coventry House to residential new builds such as the Redel Residence. He has particular experience with historic buildings, private residential, hotel, restaurant and leisure developments.

He is keenly interested in the relationship between space and the built environment, its implications for urban buildings and their potential for regeneration. His approach is encompassed by his Level Two Gallery project at the Tate Modern. As a gallery space within a converted industrial building, it functions as an exploration of both space and form.

Conversions such as the Level Two gallery have allowed Will to engage with the significance of architecture to social and cultural change; to explore his interest in the human aspect of architecture and the variety of complex relationships between people and the built environment.

His recent and current projects have been driven by an interest in sustainable, low energy design solutions, particularly for existing buildings.
