Geoff Ansell
Geoff Ansell BA (Hons) MA (RCA)
Geoff received his undergraduate degree from Birmingham School of Architecture and a Masters in Architecture and Interiors from The Royal College of Art in London. He is currently taking his final professional qualifications at Westminster University.
Before joining Smith Caradoc Hodgkins, Geoff worked for a medium sized Architectural practice in Bath for two years. The practice was involved in a wide range of projects from small scale house extensions to much larger residential developments. Geoff was able to work on commercial, office developments and some local landmark buildings, including existing buildings. Some of these buildings were listed and others were in conservation areas of historical sensitivity. The firm specialised in dealing with these types of project at the initial stages and then obtaining planning permission.
Geoff’s interests are centred on how architecture is developed in the dense city landscape and how we can use the evolving urban context to shape new interventions. At Smith Caradoc Hodgkins he has had the chance to develop some of these ideas through several feasibility master planning presentations for large mixed use developments such as Garfield House in London, Auckinleck House in Birmingham and Furnival House in Sheffield.
Geoff had obtained a large amount of experience of current building regulations, working on tender and construction drawing packages such as the Newport Court Development and John Adams Hall. Over the last year he has been extensively involved as part of the onsite team dealing with the contractors on John Adams Hall.
